Dave and Jenny | Operation: Love Reunited

This morning I had a wonderful shoot for Dave and Jenny for Operation: Love Reunited. We were nervous that the rain was going to mess with our plans, but it held off until we were done! It was a little chilly but turned out wonderfully :) Dave will be deploying to Iraq soon, and I am so so so blessed and glad to have been able to take some pictures for Dave and Jenny that capture their joy and love to help them while they are apart!

So sweet! I absolutely love this organization and can’t say enough how happy I am to be able to give back a little to those who give up so much to protect our freedom. There are photographers who volunteer all over the country, so if you know someone who is deployed or deploying–please let them know about Operation: Love Reunited! Here is a link to my last OpLove shoot: The Angell Family, and some more info on Operation: Love Reunited.

And finally, a short slideshow! I hope everyone is having a cozy day out of the rain/snow!

Favorites from 2008 | Portraits

I am so incredibly, incredibly blessed! In every way possible. But I feel especially blessed that the job I get to do every day is something that I love, and that I get to meet the most amazing people from it. I love so much being able to capture important milestones in people’s lives. I love people’s expressions when they see their photos, and I especially love capturing each person’s special beauty in a way that they might even know exists.

Thinking back on the past year, I decided I wanted to do a series of blog posts of some of my favorite images. I should have probably started the year with this, but hey, better late than never right? Haha. So for the next several days I’m going to post three of my favorite pictures in several categories. So far it’s been tough to narrow them down…but we’ll see how it goes haha. It may just be an approximation, because I bet that if I looked through everything on a different day, I would have different favorites. And, some sessions, I can NOT pick one favorite haha.

But…today are my top three favorites from portrait sessions. In no particular order….

This is Paige. Paige graduated from East Jessamine High School in May ‘08. Even though the weather was not cooperative, her and her mom were such troopers, and I absolutely love this one of her in the rain!

Next we have Misty! Misty is such a fabulous person all around. She is so full of life and fabulously talented at everything she does! I love hanging out with her, and I love that she models for me whenever I want to stretch my creativity! I can’t say enough about her :)

Last one for today is a shot from my first Operation: Love Reunited family. This is Shane and his daughter, Skylie. There are tons that I could have chosen from this session as favorites, but I love the emotion in this one. Anytime I’m scrolling through photos I just have to stop and look at it. Shane is currently in Iraq, and he as well as his wife Ashley and daughter Skylie are all in my prayers! They are such a wonderful family that I am so blessed to know!

So that’s it for today! But check back tomorrow for the next installment of favorites!

The Angell Family | Operation: Love ReUnited

Meet the Angell family. Shane, Ashley, and Skylie. I was absolutely beyond blessed to be able to do a photoshoot for them this morning. This was my first shoot for Operation: Love ReUnited (see this post or oplove.org for more info!), and I can already tell that I am going to absolutely love being a part of this organization. Shane is being deployed in a few weeks (I can’t remember if they ever said to where…Ashley if you see this and want to chime in, please do :) ) Even though the weather tried to make us give up multiple times, we finally were able to get in this morning’s shoot just in time for Christmas!

I really don’t think I can even portray what I was feeling during this session. A few words would be gratitude…for Shane and all the other military men and women who serve us every day, and for their families who also sacrifice so much…joy…for really feeling like I was being able to use the talent God has given me to make a difference…and even just having a blast because they have to be just about the coolest family ever! (Ok run on sentences…excuse my stream of consciousness writing tonight haha). But…no more words…here’s some favorite images (a lot!) and a slideshow.

Thank you so much Shane, Ashley, and Skylie, and Merry Christmas!

So precious. I love this one!

Cutest thing ever? Yes, I believe so.

And a slideshow. Thanks for looking everyone! In the next couple of days I will have some photos to post from Jayden’s 6 mo. old photos with Santa, then I will be pretty much shut down for the holidays! Yay Christmas!

Operation: Love ReUnited

Hello and happy Saturday to everyone!

So I am super excited to be announcing this! Earlier this week I came across the organization Operation: Love ReUnited. Basically, the organization is a network of photographers who offer photo sessions for families of members of our military who are currently deployed or being deployed (at no cost to the family) to make it easier on everyone during their time apart, and to thank them for their commitment to our country and our freedom.  As of a few days ago, I am officially a participating photographer, and am so excited to get the word out!

So if you (or someone you know) has a loved one being deployed, feel free to check out the site above and contact me! I can’t wait!
