Favorites of ‘08 | The rest!

I decided to go ahead and include the last few categories of favorites all into one blog post! So, here we go with favorite Cakes, First Dance, Exit, and Couple shots!

First with the cakes. And these are all based on looks, because I have yet to taste a cake at a wedding haha :)

First we have Seth and Sloane’s beautiful cake! I was ridiculously excited about how the ribbon on the cake matches the wall behind it haha. I love the simplicity of the cake and the flowers tying it in to the rest of their theme!

Looooooove Ashley and Michael’s cake! It was SO beautiful. I actually modeled my own wedding cake after theirs (well…my cake decorator did haha). Ashley’s matron of honor Lorraine arranged the flowers on the top and it was just fabulous!

Finally we have Destiny and Patrick’s cake! The swirls everywhere were just so cute, yet elegant at the same time. I also love their script “O” at the top. I’m guessing this was one of the tastiest cakes, it definitely disappeared the fastest! Haha!

Next, we have favorite first dance photos! I am such a sap…I always get so emotional during the first dance haha. It’s so sweet! Usually things are pretty hectic after the ceremony and the first dance is when the couple really gets to just relax for a minute and be with each other and be like “Wow. We are MARRIED.” It’s so cool.

Ashley and Michael’s first dance was just as sweet and beautiful as the rest of their day!

Next is a shot from Ryan and Bethany’s first dance. I second shot Ryan and Bethany’s wedding with Ian Lozada, and it was wonderful! The warmth and emotion in this image just makes me want to cuddle! Haha.

Finally, we have a shot of James and Lynda’s first dance. I think the emotion in James’ face says it all :)

Next is my favorite grand Exit photos! So fun and exciting, always!

Courtney and Grant’s bubble exit was so fun! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so many bubbles in one place without a bubble machine haha. And I love how happy and excited their faces are! So cute.

Next is another bubble exit, this time from Megan and Troy’s wedding. It was soooooo ridiculously outrageously hot outside that day, so everyone actually stood just inside the church and blew bubbles haha. It was pretty funny! Once again, the looks of happiness are just so cute!

Destiny and Patrick had sparklers for their grand exit, and Destiny said she loves these photos because they are her “fairy tale ending.” Her face in this photo is absolutely priceless! I love it :)

And….last but not least….my favorite couple shots of 2008! I should probably say favorite-ish though because it was impossible to choose. If I picked new ones out today (I picked these out at the start of the favorite posts), they may have even be different! So no hurt feelings, thisĀ  is just all in fun! I loved each and every one of my couples of this past year, and cannot wait for all the fun coming in 2009!

This semi candid shot of Courtney and Grant is just too cute! I was actually taking a group photo with the whole wedding party spread out around them, and happened to catch this. The joy emanating from this photo is just so beautiful.

I absolutely love everything about this shot from Kindal and Bo’s wedding. Call me crazy for liking a shot of just feet, but I do haha. I love the quirkiness of their shoes and how it fits their personality–classy, fun, retro…a little of everything!

And finally, Charla and Jarrod. I love the dramatic lighting and their expressions in this photo. It was painfully cold outside the day of their wedding, so we made do with what we had indoors. The black and white seems so timeless to me, with their joy and excitement just so evident. Love. :)

So that’s all folks, for the 2008 favorite posts! Did I include your favorites? Feel free to share in comments! The husband and I are traveling to Colorado later this week to visit grad schools, so there may be some fun posts from that as well soon! Exciting!

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Favorites of ‘08 | Party Time!

Ya know, I am really running out of things to say at the beginning of these posts haha. Let’s just get to the photos, eh?

First we have a shot from Seth and Sloane’s reception! This is Eric Wilson (of Eric Wilson and the Empty Hearts), who is a fabulous musician and friend of the bride and groom. He played a few of his original songs and such, and it was really awesome to have that kind of personal touch at the reception! Seth and Sloane’s reception was totally laid back and just an absolute blast! And, I just love the negative space in this picture.

I think their faces say it all! Haha! I am not sure if I ever blogged this wedding, but this is James and Lynda, whose wedding I second shot with another photographer in Nashville. This moment was during the best man’s speech, but they were this expressive the whole day! You could just really feel how excited they were to be getting married and how truly in love they were all day. Loved it!

Ok so, this is not the greatest picture, but it cracks me up! These are my good friends Megan and Troy, and the flowergirl is Troy’s sister, Shelby. Shelby came up while Troy was removing Megan’s garter and says “Troy…what are you doing??” It was probably the cutest and funniest thing ever haha. You can see her cute little innocent head tilt, and Troy and Megan’s faces crack me up!

Favorites of ‘08 | The Ceremony

Sorry for the delay in posting, everyone! We’ve had a crazy few days with me being stuck in Lexington with the weather, and trying to get all of Chris’s stuff in for his grad school application. Stress! But here’s a blog post, and my goal is to get caught up on emails tomorrow!

Today are three of my favorites from the ceremony…you know, the part of the day we’re all actually there for haha. I looooove absolutely every ceremony! There are so many ways to go about expressing your eternal love, and it is so beautiful! I think I cry at every ceremony. So without further ado, my favorites…

First is a moment from Ashley and Michael’s ceremony. O.M.G. Sweetest thing ever. The look on Michael’s face as he wipes away his bride’s tears just really gets me in this one! Soooo sweet. And Ashley’s smile is so beautiful and real. Their whole ceremony was so touching!

This was definitely one of the coolest thing I’ve ever seen! Hannah and Landon had their guests place these flowers into a wreath as they came into the church, then during the ceremony the ring was placed around them to symbolize everyone’s support while the congregation prayed over them. Hannah’s parents are missionaries and this is a tradition from one of the countries they had lived in for awhile. Very cool!

Ummmmmmm cutest thing ever haha. This picture just cracks me up and I just had to include it! This flowergirl at Kindal and Bo’s wedding just wandered over to see what was going on haha. She’s looking at her mom (who was a bridesmaid) like “Hehe I’m not supposed to be over here but I AM!” Cracks me up.

Favorites from 2008 | The Little Things

I LOVE detail shots. Really, I do. It’s totally worth the crazy looks I get sometimes haha (“What on earth is that girl doing with those shoes?!”) to be creative with the things that are unique to each wedding. I love to capture all the little things because it’s those kind of little details that are likely to drive you crazy during the planning stages, and it all always turns out so beautifully! But sometimes it’s hard to remember the little things, which is why I make it my duty to try to get as many shots of the little things that I can! So here are some favorites from the past year:

This is one of my all time favorite detail shots. These are Ashley and Michael’s rings on a cork. Nothing special, right? Wrong! This is a very special type of cork, that came out of the same type of champagne (or wine?) that Ashley and Michael drank to celebrate their engagement, to celebrate college graduation, and to celebrate their wedding! I love knowing little things about my couples that can really help me capture something extra special.

This is Lauren’s beautiful bouquet! I love the simplicity of the beautiful white hydrangeas. (Hydrangeas are my favorite!) They complimented the beauty and grace of the whole day so well, and were such a lovely touch!

This, of course, is Kindal’s fabulous vintage bouquet by the Vintage Magpie in the UK! Kindal probably wins the award for the most awesome details of 2008 haha. It was hard to pick one…her veil, jewelry, bouquets, customized Chuck Taylors, red heels, and everything else was just so awesome and sooo them! And, before I even arrived, Kindal and her girls spread things out around the room for me to take pictures of hahaha! So fun :)
